To our incredible community,
Standing ovations, heartfelt stories, and unforgettable moments — our Gold Gala was truly a night to remember. But more than that, it was a night that reminded us why we do this work and what’s possible when we come together.
When athletes Frannie and Kate took the stage, their courage, friendship and joy lit up the room. This moment captured the very heart of Special Olympics Washington – a movement built on inclusion, belonging and the power of sport to change lives. They are not just part of our future — they are the future: joyful, bold, and unapologetically inclusive.
As we mark 50 years of impact,, we also looked ahead to the next 50. The Gold Gala wasn’t just a celebration — it was a spark for what comes next
Together, we raised a record-breaking $1 million to fuel inclusive sports, health, and leadership opportunities across Washington. This generosity is extraordinary and it comes at a critical time. These funds help close gaps in other areas and ensure we can continue investing in the athletes, coaches, and communities who count on us every day.
This moment shows what’s possible when we come together. But it’s also a reminder that our work is far from done. As we move into the next chapter, we’re focused on expanding access to inclusive sports, elevating athlete leadership, and strengthening systems that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities statewide. Thank you to our corporate partners and community sponsors — Your belief in our athletes fuels our mission.
And while the Gala may be over, the movement continues — starting with one of our most energizing traditions: the 2026 Polar Plunge Washington!
This year’s Plunge season brings even more ways to get involved — including a new 5K Fun Run, a Plunge & Run combo, and the ultimate test of commitment: the Super Plunge for those brave enough to take the icy dive for 24-hours.
Whether you’re plunging solo, joining a team, or cheering from the sidelines, every splash supports life-changing programs for athletes across Washington.

For five decades, we’ve witnessed how sport transforms lives. Not just on the fields or courts, but in hearts. In homes. In communities. Your support is what keeps that transformation alive.
For so many athletes and families, it has been a gateway — opening doors to belonging, leadership, and opportunity. And for just as many, it has been a lifeline to friendship, to health, to confidence, to community.
To our supporters, athletes, families, partners, and friends: Thank you for believing. Thank you for giving. And thank you for standing with us—on Gala night, and every day after.
With gratitude and hope,
Mary Do | President & CEO | Special Olympics Washington
