What an incredible day at the Unified Bowl!
This year’s event brought together athletes, Unified partners, coaches, and supporters for a powerful celebration of inclusion, teamwork, and community at the Seattle Seahawks’ practice facility in Renton.
We were especially proud to welcome the Special Olympics Minnesota Vikings Unified Flag Football Team to Seattle as they took on our Special Olympics Washington Unified team. The matchup was about more than competition. It was about connection. Athletes and Unified partners from both programs came together to compete, encourage one another, and showcase the true spirit of Unified Sports. From warmups to the final whistle, the field was filled with energy, sportsmanship, and joy.
Unified Sports brings athletes with and without intellectual disabilities onto the same team, promoting inclusion and understanding both on and off the field. At the Unified Bowl, that mission was on full display.
The excitement continued off the field as Special Olympics Washington athlete Sam Shanaman was selected to receive Super Bowl tickets. The moment was unforgettable and a celebration of Sam’s dedication, leadership, and love of the game. Opportunities like this remind us why inclusive sports matter. They create life changing experiences and open doors that extend far beyond competition.
Events like the Unified Bowl are only possible because of incredible community partners. Thank you to the Seattle Seahawks, Swire Coca Cola USA, and Goodera for supporting our athletes with goodie bags, field set up, and volunteer support. Their commitment ensured every detail of the day reflected the excellence and care our athletes deserve.
The Unified Bowl was more than a football game. It was athletes high fiving across team lines, coaches cheering for effort as much as score, families watching their loved ones compete on a professional field, and a community coming together to celebrate belonging.
