Special Olympics Washington is beyond excited to announce its partnership with Smartsheet and the Seattle Kraken for the third annual Breaking Ice and Breaking Barriers event at the Kraken Community Iceplex.
Breaking Ice and Breaking Barriers ot only introduces athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to the exhilarating, fast-paced game of hockey, but it also reminds these athletes of all the things that they can do. From learning the game, practicing their skating skills and making a winning shot, Special Olympics athletes feel that they really belong—both on and off the rink.

But that’s not all! This continued partnership with the Seattle Kraken also shines light on another important principle: bringing greater diversity to the game of hockey.
