Over the years, LETR has evolved to encompass a variety of exciting, innovative fundraising platforms that allow law enforcement personnel to involve their community and raise awareness for Special Olympics’ programs.

Dedicated law enforcement personnel from across the state raise thousands of dollars for our athletes and increasing public awareness through the following platforms:

  1. Polar Plunge events have been the main fundraising platform for LETR in Washington State. Being one of the coolest winter events, Polar Plunge involves individuals collecting pledges from friends and family before participating in an icy plunge to showcase their support for Special Olympics. The 2023 Plunges raised over $200,000 for Special Olympics Washington—putting us well on our way to hitting pre-COVID numbers!
  2. The Annual Statewide Torch Run is the heart and soul of the LETR campaign, an incredible event that raises both awareness and funds to support our mission as law enforcement personnel run the Flame of Hope across Washington State. The 2023 Torch Run involved more than 170 runners from 48 different agencies across Washington State, raising over $15,000 in support of Special Olympics Washington’s programs!
  3. Cop-on-Top is an exciting opportunity for law enforcement personnel to raise funds and spread awareness within their community by sitting atop a scissor-lift or a store’s rooftop for a determined amount of time—or until a monetary goal is reached. With events scheduled across Washington State in 2023, and nearly $29,000 raised so far, we can’t wait to witness the continued positive impact that Cop-on-Top has on our programs!

The LETR campaign plays an instrumental role in raising awareness for Special Olympics Washington across our state, and we extend our gratitude to the hundreds of devoted law enforcement personnel who play a crucial in making our programs accessible to the athletes we serve.
