Virtual Resource Fair: Staying Healthy and Hydrated During COVID

Keeping a healthy lifestyle is hard, it is even harder during COVID. Health Messenger Matthew Thiele will share his best tips for exercising and keeping hydrated at home.

Matthew has been involved with Special Olympics for around 10 years. As a young adult of 33 years, SOWA provides a safe place for him to exercise, learn new things, and most importantly socialize with his friends. He is currently participating in the Virtual Games and looks forward to resuming in person practice in Track and Field, T-Ball, Bowling, and Basketball. Matthew’s favorite times are at practice “horsing around” with his friends. He also enjoys the State Meets where he receives healthy athlete perks and gets to stay overnight with his friends. Matthew has become an Athlete Leader, Health Manager, and Athlete Ambassador in SOWA. He is a member of an Athlete Input Council in Snohomish county that gives athletes a voice in the organization they love. He is available to give presentations about his involvement in Special Olympics and has also introduced Speakers at the Law Enforcement Torch Light Conference. His accomplishments are thanks in part to mentors and training provided by SOWA. Matthew works in his community at the Safeway near where he lives. He enjoys seeing and assisting his neighbors at the store and makes sure that the parking lot is clean and clear of carts. Matthew’s other interests include participating in an F-Light boat racing crew. He also enjoys attending hockey games with his friends (Go Silvertips and Kraken!).
