An opportunity for Athletes and Athlete Health Messengers to share their Health Stories with Medical Students and future health professionals. Participating students will learn why inclusive health is needed and why it takes a collective effort to make it happen.

Session Objectives:

Define Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and common health disparities among the patient population

Describe the systematic challenges that lead to health disparities among people with IDD

Identify strategies for creating safe and welcoming spaces for patients with IDD

Develop skills for working together as an inter-professional care team to provide high quality care to patients with IDD
