Become a Unified Partner

Join the inclusion movement! A Unified partner is a person without an intellectual disability who trains and competes on a Unified Sports team (either on a school or community team) alongside athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Unified partners can be of any age or sports skill level.

This page will give you more information on the registration processes for 1) current Unified partners whose registration forms have expired and 2) new Unified partners to participate in our in-person programming.

Registration for Special Olympics Washington Unified partners can be completed online:

  1. Go to Portals.SpecialOlympics.org to complete your registration, including all required forms.
    • Community-based Unified partners who are 18 and older are required to complete a background check. Background checks are not required for Unified partners participating in Unified Champion Schools programming.
    • Team placement: Select the school-based and/or community-based program you would like to participate within the “region selection” option in the portal.
  1. Once your registration is completed, we will connect you with your coach via email and/or phone so you can get more information on where your first practice will be located.

For questions about the online registration portal, visit our Portal Resources page or email us at PortalSupport@sowa.org.
