Last night, we brought the energy to Climate Pledge Arena and so did the Seattle Storm! Together, we turned game night into a full-on celebration of inclusion, empowerment, and 50 years of Special Olympics Washington magic.
From the moment fans walked through the doors, our athletes were everywhere; high-fiving, taking selfies, and sharing what it means to be part of this movement.
This wasn’t just another game night. It was a spotlight on the athletes, coaches, families, and volunteers who have been building our community for five decades. Athlete-led moments lit up the arena, showing everyone that sports have the power to unite us all. And when the 50/50 raffle started rolling? Storm fans showed up BIG, helping us raise funds to keep our programs going strong all year long.
Our very own President & CEO, Mary Do, said it best:
“This night is more than just a celebration of our past — it’s a powerful statement about the future we’re building. Together with the Seattle Storm, we’re elevating voices, championing inclusion, and honoring the athletes who inspire us every day.”
And Seattle Storm’s Nate Silverman matched the love:
“We’re proud to team up with Special Olympics to celebrate this incredible milestone and recognize the decades of hard work and dedication they’ve poured into our city… This will be a night to remember, and we’re honored to be part of it.”
The night wasn’t just about basketball — it was about community. The cheers weren’t limited to big plays on the court; they rang out for every athlete recognized, every story shared, and every moment of connection between fans and Special Olympics Washington athletes.
We’re grateful to the Seattle Storm, their fans, and everyone who joined us in celebrating our 50th Anniversary in such a powerful way. Here’s to the next 50 years of breaking down barriers, building connections, and creating a more inclusive Washington.
